Recommended Classes per Grade Level
This is current class recommendation per Illinois State Board of Education.
Class courses may differ by major in universities and colleges, so we highly recommend to have a consultation session with us for high school students.
PSAT 8/9 Prep Class
PSAT Prep Class
Most of middle school districts around Metropolitan Chicago area choose PSAT 8/9 for their high school placement test. To prepare PSAT 8/9, Jay's EDU has 8 weeks prep camp for 8th graders. With Jay's EDU's long history of teaching PSAT/SAT/ACT, students will be prepared for the one of the most important tests of middle school.
Math Classes
Algebra I, Class for 7th to 8th Graders
Based on the 'Common Core', Algebra I is a course in middle school math, usually taught in the 8th grade. Advanced level students take it in 7th grade. The class objective of Algebra I is to prepare students for the study of algebra and make students prepared for next level math such as Geometry and Algebra II.
Geometry / Basic Trigonometry, Class for 8th to 10th Graders
The Geometry course is designed to emphasize the study of the properties and applications of common geometric figures in two and three dimensions. It includes the study of transformations and right triangle trigonometry.
Algebra II, Class for 8th to 10th Graders
(for Stevenson High School & its Middle School students)
Algebra II prepares students to take Pre-Calculus and Statistics. A major goal of this course is for students to develop skills in manipulating and solving linear, quadratic, exponential, polynomial, radical, rational, and logarithmic equations. Usually, Math sequence is 'Algebra I – Geometry – Algebra II'; however, Stevenson High School and its middle school districts have math sequence as 'Algebra I – Algebra II – Geometry'. Therefore, depends on school districts, students might prepare themselves for Algebra II earlier than others.
English Classes
Reading and Grammar II, Class for 7th to 8th Graders
Jay's EDU Reading & Grammar II classes are designed for students to be prepared for reading comprehension skills & grammar skills. Reading classes prepares students for comprehension skills for standardized tests, such as PSAT 8/9. Also, Grammar II class will prepare students for critical grammar skills for PSAT 8/9.
